First up, breakfast. To start I made (well with Maryann) my first official espresso.
Once we were all ready we headed to the vaporetto to head out to Murano where they make glass.
We started by going to a glass blowing demo and watched them make a glass first and then, in about 47 seconds, he made a horse. This is apparently the test a glassmaker must pass to be official. This was literally a lump of hot sand 47 seconds ago! And he just chucked it back in the fire after we saw it!
After this we hit some shops. Lynne nearly caused an international incident. She went into a store and barely touched a bracelet and it fell apart. The shopkeeper wanted her to pay for it but Lynn said it was defective. When Lynn said it was broken the woman told her she was broken. She also called Lynn crap. If we weren’t afraid the cops would show up it would have been hilarious.Eventually Lynne offered her €10 for it and the woman said she would call the police and then told her to leave. This is the offending item:
That being said the glass work here is beyond beautiful. This is outside the glass blowing demo place.
After Lynne’s near police encounter we headed to lunch. Mary and I got spaghetti with lobster. We didn’t realize it would be a lobster we had to crack ourselves! Things got messy but eventually we ate.
After we walked a bit more around town.
After lunch we headed out to Borano where theymake lace. It’s a very colorful town.
After buying a few scarves, Maryann, Mary and Idecided to head to one of the bridges to take pictures. Along the way we grabbed gelato and it was SOOOO good. Even Maryann the gelato snob thought so!
We hit the bridge and took some photos
Grover even decided to join us today
After we all met back at the vaporetto to head back to Murano. The first time there we saw things we liked but didn’t have time to make it back to the shop before Burano. We went back and most places had closed but I found glasses and a pitcher I liked in a shop that would shop it to me(yeah for no luggage carrying!).
After we took the vaporetto home and decided to go pick up pizza. Lynne, Chrissy and I went to pick up. It was just a place you buy slices at but when we got there, it didn’t look great. As Lynnesaid, she’s too good for slices, so we hit a restaurant across the way and asked if we could order for takeaway. We got our salads and pizza and headed back. We had pizza and Prosecco with pineapple jiluuce and toasted our last night in the city.
Tomorrow we board the ship!
Last things:
Maryann got in some snuggle time with Grover on a bridge on our second trip to Murano
How romantic!
And they have MLP in the candy shop
