Today we pull into our first port of Dubrovnik
Before that though, last night, as I was laying in bed, I asked Maryann if she realized the boat was moving one way but it felt like itwas going the other (Cheryl was already out like a light so I never got her opinion). Basically I knew wherethe back of the boat was and it felt we were going that way even though I knew it was moving forward. It was a very odd sensation.
I was, of course, out of bed first. I sat on the balcony for a while. It was a bit windy and cold at sea. After getting ready I headed to the cafe for coffee and then I went to the solerium and found the barista and got a cappuccino!
Met up with Maryann, Lynne, Chrissy and Mary for breakfast in the dining room. Sadly Christina’s scrambled eggs came with a decorative tomato....and she’s allergic.
After breakfast we sat in the balcony as we came into port.
Went down and got in line for our excursion. Didn’t mention yesterday but the phone in the other’s room is broken so we couldn’t call them. Turns out we should have all got in line together so we ended up on separate tours....live andlearn.
Our tour started out on a pirate ship looking boat for an hour. Slightly rough seas but super fun.
Also got a picture of our ship.
Once we got on shore we had a tour through thecity. It’s smaller than I thought it would be but quite amazing. I’m not a Game of Thrones watcherbut even I can see why they filmed here.
After the walking tour we had some time free. Maryann and I chose to climb up and walk the topof the wall (I have climbed more stairs on this trip than I have in the past 5 years total). But we had some amazing views (and selfies of course!)
They told us to be back to the boat at 2:40. As we we pulling out, someone ran late and the pirate boat was pulling awayand the ship crew guy just shrugged and yelled ‘take the bus!’
We made it back and to the boat and sat on the balcony for a bit. We watched as the boat pulled out of port. Around this time I turned to Maryann and said sometimes you have to stop and remember how fortunate we are:
At dinner I went with Piort’s recommendation of fish cakes, short ribs but then went rogue and had panacitta with a basil pesto oil on top. Seemed odd but it was delicious. After dinner Maryannand I went to the jewelers store where she got a girgeous pair of ear rings. I got limoncello that was no where near as good as what I had in Italy.
We went and saw the show. This is our cruise director. The show itself was ballroom dancing. Ukrainian ballroom champions were in the show.
Tomorrow we wake up in Montenegro!
Last thought:
They left this creepy bunny on Maryann’s bed. I tried to make him less creepy by putting Grover with him.
