Off to the ship

Today we leave Venice and got on the Royal Caribbean Rhapsody of the Seas.  We cleaned up the house, did a bit of shopping (noting there’s a new creepy clown coming to the office) and Simon came to check us out.   It was POURING rain.  The plan was to walk to the vaporetto (which is across from the train station), take it one stop to the Roma stop, get off there and walk to the People Mover which would get us to the port. There are porters at the train station that help people get their luggage to their hotels.  One was on his way back to the train station he asked if we wanted help. 50€ to get us to the people mover.   It was the best money we spent this trip!  Poor guy didn’t know what he was in for.   Had to bring all6 of our bags plus a couple peoples carryons over a foot bridge.

We finally made it to the people mover which is really just a tram then, when you get off, you walkthrough a parking lot and around, through security, and then finallyyou get to the gangway.  Maryann and I were THOSE people taking a million selfies everywhere.

We got on board around 12:30, arranged a new excursion for Croatia as ours had been cancelled and decidedto have lunch since the staterooms didn’t open until 1:30.  Mary and I hit the bar and asked Kiren to make us a fruity drink with vidka. He came back with these concoctions.  Kiren is my new best friend.

Once they opened the rooms we headed to level8 to our Jr Suite. It’s fantastic.  We started our unpacking.  Cheryl had watched a bunch of YouTube videos in cruising so had brought metal hooks that can attach to the walls to hand stuff, hanging shoe holders for toiletries and folding hangers.  It made unpacking much easier. Grover found a comfy spot to watch from.

At 4:30 we headed to the mandatory muster where they told us where to go if the ships going down.  I say, if this ships sinking, I’m heading to the hot tub. Why die in freezing cold water when Ican be in nice warm water?!?

After the muster Maryann and I hit the bar.  Grover ordered a champagne cocktail. The bartendertold him to come back before the end of the trip and he’d buy him a shot of tequila.

We headed back to the room and I was sitting on the balcony writing when I heard Maryann saying something inside the room. We were moving !!!  I was like a child. It amazes me that the small tugboats can move this giant ship!  They pushedus out of port and turned the ship. I thought we were going straight out to sea but the push/pulled us through Venice!  I was going back and forthbetween the room and balcony giving play by plays to Maryann and Cheryl.  It started pouring rain sideways so I had to step inside for a minute but so worth getting soaked again for.

After getting out to sea, we headed to dinner.  I had escargot, prime rib and, Piotr our waiter said it would be the only night they’d have key limepie, so we all ordered it.

After dinner, we walked around the shops then went to Schooners bar for a couple of John Doriesand then it was off to the first night show.  They have some seriously bendy people in these shows and one guy even juggles tables with his feet!

After the show it was bed time. Tonight we fall asleep in Italy and wake up in Croatia!
